Integrating Opposites : Newcastle Hypnosis & NLP Practice Group : Wednesday 18th April – Nigel Hetherington

Trancecafe No Comments »
April .. and spring has sprung. We have all recently experienced a wonderful mixture of very hot and sunny weather mixed in with unseasonal rain and even snow. In short mother nature has shown many of her facets.

&nbsp

Life can be likened to the seasons. Sometimes it is hot and vibrant other times it is cold and desolate. This cafe is an exploration of some ways to integrate our changing seasons of life and experience into honest change work. It’s all to easy for a client to request that their life is free from depression or worry yet at the same time because of many factors totally disregard the positive function of life’s lesser valued emotions and experiences.

&nbsp

Newcastle’s hypnosis and nlp practice group this April is an honest attempt to integrate the seeming polarities of our lifes journey into a more accepting whole of experience and in ways, discover the better parts of the two such that we can all lead more meaningful and open lifes.

Somatic Symptom Space : Newcastle Hypnosis & NLP Practice Group : Wednesday 21st March – Nigel Hetherington

Hypnotherapy Practice, NLP Practitioning No Comments »

This March the Newcastle hypnotherapy group is focusing on the practice of fostering and sponsoring a change process in a mutual therapeutic alliance.  This process with concentrate on creating a space, a safe space where clients can connect with and to their own powerful internal resources with a not to hard, not to soft but middle path into a hypnotic state where change can be supported.

This is an opportunity to create change that is based in a non-verbal experience and has the depth that is more sustainable and general talk based therapies like CBT or counselling. Here the emphasis is on not talking but to create the space in trance where a bodily or somatic representation of the symptom or specific area of intentioned change is to be welcomed and supported and encouraged to evolve in its own organic way.

This process lends itself to working with physical and emotional problems; where a problem is defined as something like a block or barriers to achieving something of genuine benefit. This process will also lend itself to problems of the non physical, non-emotional kind … if such kinds exist at all.

Elman Style Hypnosis Induction And Change Process : Newcastle Hypnotherapy & NLP Practice Group : Wednesday 15th February – Nigel Hetherington

Trancecafe No Comments »

A long term favourite and particularly effective hypnotic induction and deeper is the Elman style hypnosis induction. It is a rather rapid technique at inducing trance in most people and it is  very easy to learn. The Elman style induction combines tactile experience with repeated suggestion and deepening techniques.

More often learning one or more techniques to introduce trance usually moves to an important question for the hypnotist. The question being “Once someone is in trance what to do next?” This great question can be translated into how do you go about helping someone change?

This month at the Trance Cafe you will learn how to facilitate client change. So as well as learning the Elman style induction we also get to learn and use ‘The Room of Change’. The Room of Change is both a guided and emergent change metaphor to use with your clients and friends to do almost content free change work.

NLP Secret Meta Model Question – Nigel Hetherington

NLP Practitioning No Comments »

This is for me one of the most important
Distinctions I have shared in my newsletters.

This is so powerful yet simple you may not initially
Fully appreciate the significance of this question.

This is a distinction and equally a ‘Meta Model’
Question that was created by one of my good
Friends and original NLP trainers. This is from
Mike Treasure, who is one of the currently unsung yet
Oceanically deep NLP developers and practitioners.

When Bandler and Grinder first began teaching
What is know as the first NLP model, The Meta Model
The story goes they taught it without any explicit
Use of rapport ( Rapport is said to have come from
The third NLP Model ) and the results were very interesting.

Friends and families fell out with each other. People got
Punched and kicked. Small kittens were scorned and it is
Said that some cried and created work for therapists.
Relationships were rocked to their foundations. Not just
Because of a lack of rapport but as well a lack of understanding
The purpose behind the Meta Model interventions …

The Meta Model of Bandler and Grinder is a linguistic tool
Kit. It is designed to uncover Deep Structure and at the
Same time force a re-evaluation of ‘unhelpful’ and ‘stuck’
States or thought process. It is an amazing tool, when
It is used well. It can also be a rapport killing problem creator.

I invite you to check your own experience of being
Meta Modelled by people. When applied without
Skill or purpose or rapport The Meta Model can
Become a very sharp scalpel making incisions and
Cuts where not are required, invited or needed.

The Meta Model and honest rapport not to
Mention compassion go hand in hand. But Please
Note I say compassion not empathy. No need to
Feel other peoples pain in order for you to help!

Now, having set the scene here is Mike Treasures
Excellent and Secret in the sense of only known
To a very few, Meta Model Question. Ask this of
Yourself BEFORE you go wielding the Meta scalpel.

“Can I say the same is true about me?”

This is a wonderful way to help people stop making
Unrefined incisions, Uncaring cuts and being a Slasher.

Asking yourself this before hand will really help you
With Rapport, Compassion and the Intention behind
Your Meta Modelling : Meta Meddling : Metal Mudding

Try this self reflexive Secret Meta Model Question and
Improve your 2nd and 3rd Position’s ( META ) too …

TuiNa Healing & WellBeing : Newcastle Hypnotherapist & NLP Practice Group : January 18th

Uncategorized No Comments »

This January’s New Year Trance Cafe is a excellent way to begin 2012 – This is a Well -Being Workshop.

During 2012 as well as lots of practice and application of hypnotherapy skills, I am also going to be using the trance Cafe to offer some excellent and additional complementary skill sets for personal and professional wellbeing. Integrating additional skill sets is something I consider vitally important for continued professional development ( CPD ) and personal growth.

My good friend and college Tony MacDonald will be sharing his considerable skills in TuiNa Chinese massage for healing and well being.  Tony is an internationally recognised Master Practitioner in TuiNa and has recently returned from India where he has added some very interesting new skills into his healing and well being work.  Tony has decades of practising healing from his well known and respected background  as a top martial arts instructor in the North East.

TuiNa is a massage technique that works on the muscles and ‘energy meridians’ that will be familiar concepts for those of us familiar with Chi Kung,  Acupuncture and emotional freedom technique ( EFT ). This two hour session in Newcastle will give you hands, very practical ways to help your friends and family not just top up their well being ( one of the benefits of massage ) but be able to help with muscular aches and pains.

Our evening together will be packed full of practice of Chi Kung breathing exercises and well structured TuiNa massage techniques which are going to be interlaced with healing hypnotherapist language.

Rapid Hypnosis Inductions : Newcastle NLP & Hypnotherapy Practice Group : Wednesday 16th November – Nigel Hetherington

Hypnotherapy Practice, Trancecafe No Comments »

This November at the Trance Cafe is rapid hypnotic inductions and trance phenomena.

Many hypnotists and therapists are not comfortable with eliciting trance phenomena with their clients in case it doesn’t work. Learning to more carefully calibrate your clients or the people you are hypnotizing will let you know more confidently what kind of trance phenomena you can go for. Trance phenomena like stuck hands, immobile feet, name amnesia or positive and negative hallucinations are all on the cards this month.

Now whether you choose to use these skills for entertainment or for therapy work is up to you. The evening is going to be a fun exploration of rapid hypnosis leading into trance phenomena. With Nigel Hetherington and my colleague John Penman, who is a stage magician and hypnotist.

The evening will consist of lots of rapid induction demonstrations and even more practice for you. Come along and learn how to rapidly induce trance and see how many hypnotic phenomena you can experience in one evening.

Humour In Coaching and Change Work : Newcastle NLP & Hypnotherapy Practice Group : October 19th

Trancecafe No Comments »

This October the Newcastle Hypnotherapy and NLP Study group is presented by Martin D Thornton.

Martin’s web site opens with the very apt “Warning – My Way Of Working Is Not Everyone’s Cup Of  Tea” and this is a very apt introduction setting the frame for Martin’s way of working with clients.

Martin says that honesty is the best policy. He also says that laughter is the best medicine. Martin puts both of these together: “I’m a plain-speaking Yorkshireman who believes clients need an outsider’s honest view of what’s going wrong in their lives in order to help them put it right, and who de-clutters their minds via their funny bone to help them do it”. Like Oscar Wilde said, “If you want to tell someone the truth, you had better make them laugh, or they’ll kill you.”

Although still guided by the tenets of NLP Martin doesn’t do typical NLP and his methods are now more CBT (Clowning aBout Therapy). As someone who stands out from the crowd, Martin’s style is unlike most practitioners. Known for being daft and saying silly things, he builds rapport by making (most) people laugh and in doing so creates the trust that’s needed to help people to have a better life than they imagine is possible for them. In fact, his greatest enjoyment is watching a client’s attitude change from ultra serious and worried about their future to realising things aren’t that bad and they can cope with whatever life throws at them.

Martin is blessed with a truly warped mind (his clients say he is crazier than they are) and that is why Martin sees things from a very different perspective, which he then reflect back using humour – sometimes droll and dry and sometimes slapstick (how many therapists do you know behave like a silverback gorilla or sing to their clients?).

Get up close an personal with the creator of SilverBack Coaching ( TM ) [ Martin looks like a Silver Back Gorilla ] and bring your problems and worries along for a full on and experiential adventure of the mind and body that may well lead you to some gut wrenching laughter and a very different view of that old problem.

ReDiscovering Your Inner Peace : September 13th : Nigel Hetherington

Trancecafe 1 Comment »

We certainly do live in interesting times don’t we? Take a look and listen at what is going on in our region, what is going on in the UK and what is going on in and around the World.

Riots, Wars, Unemployment, Shops Closing, Rising Inflation, Petrol & Fuel Increases … and it can all way too easily feel like a very worrying time to be alive.

Have you ever wondered how some people can seemingly be unaffected by a less than positive world and somehow continue to remain upbeat. In other words, how is it they don’t seem to worry or succumb to their own fears and anxieties?

We usually can’t always do a great deal about external events in the world but … We can do a huge amount about how we respond and think in response to the outside world. We can also do a great deal of really simple practices that bring us to Inner Peace and from this place we can be more fully in our world.

How will it be if you can have some really robust tools that are both easy to learn and highly practical to help you gain a better state of mind and rediscover your inner peace.

Well there really are a great deal of ways this kind of state of mind can be achieved. Come along to this Trance Cafe to experience a powerful synthesis of NLP, Hypnotherapy and Eastern meditative practices that you can use in your life and share with your clients. Tuesday 13th September, Newcastle with Nigel Hetherington.
