Forgetting and Remembering on Event Horizons : Newcastle NLP Practice Group : 1st June
Trancecafe May 16th, 2016
Have you ever had the experience of walking through a doorway, into a room and then pausing and having literally no idea why you are in this room? Of course you have! This has happened to me many times. It brings a certain facial expression of lowered eyebrows and a vacant gaze as I realise I don’t really know what I am doing there.
This of course is a common experience and has been studied in depth by Radvansky. In his paper ‘Across the Event Horizon’ there is a discussion about what happens in terms of forgetting and remembering as we cross a threshold or ‘Event Horizons’ which are basically doorways.
This will be coupled with other interesting research by Weick regarding how people suffering from anxiety can have a tendency to walk off to one side ( as a result of one over active hemisphere ) as well as ideas from Bagua Zhang.
The idea of this months practice group is to turn this into a hypnotic process to both let go of certain thoughts or behaviours ( perhaps anxieties ) and reinforce other qualities such as compassion or openness.
And remember this June is the last Trance Cafe until August later in the year. Hope to see you there in creating a new process.
