Newcastle NLP Practice Group : Saturday 1st September

NLP Practice Group Newcastle, Trancecafe, Workshop No Comments »

Newcastle NLP Practice Group for Saturday 1st September has four pre arranged topics for exploration that have the potentials to make life a little easier and a lot more connected to your own values. The topics at the NLP Practice Group Newcastle are : Thought Provoking Philosophizing, Self Sabotage, Via Negativa and a proposed synthesis of the previous three topics.

A main theme for this coming weekend is ‘models’; their use of, rejection of and understanding of what is highlighted and hidden when we are thinking and ‘trying’ to squeeze experience into a model; as well as the kind of biases and blindness that can come from believing any model is real. The earth moves and no lever, no matter how long will let you move it but you can fly a kite tied to your head!

Newcastle NLP Practice Group - Models

Thought Provoking Philosophizing

An exploration into the work and some of the methods of Phil Jeremiah IV’s Humour Worx way of playfully challenging, with the use of irrelevance, concussion and discussion, stale stories and old beliefs that are holding you back. Newcastle NLP Practice Group is hosting Phil again this coming October for a full weekend of the serious use of humour in change work.

We will practice several patterns and most importantly explore the framing that sets up, validates and justifies, irrelevance, provocation and compassionate discussion. Creating a safe space ‘bubble’ where the rules of traditional change work are left in their stately homes where the rules apply. This is something else.

Self Sabotage

There is a wonderful story that I get from Green Wing about the origins of the word Sabotage. In short its about disgruntled workers who took their shoes off and chucked them into the machines that were taking their jobs during the industrial revolution. Who says history has nothing to teach us!

In a recent post I explored some themes regarding ‘self-sabotage’ and one of the reciprocate ideas that was offered was something like ‘fear of success’. I believe this is absolute nonsense at the initial level of causation basically because there is no cause. The added second order effects or meanings of new responsibilities I highly support. Fear in the initial sense is of success or failure is no-thing, it;s what it means.

What if any of the ‘self sabotage’ stuff is just and I mean just in at least two senses, is your inner wisdom telling you that no matter what, stuff is OK the way it is, for now. Imagine that! How easy could that make your life that you obviously don’t want to be easy. There maybe addressing and going beyond some paradox in this exploration.

Via Negativa

Massively inspired by a whole chapter, and theme in Incerto, the book Anti-Fragile ( Nassim Nicholas Taleb ) of a kind of reductionism.  We know about what is not working. It’s very simple, too simple! Less is more.

There are way to many ‘tings’ in our life that are, to put it simply, are shit or shite, depending on how you say this. For really negative consequences, such as falling of a ladder I prefer that utterance of the word ‘shit’. Its that word that we all utter when everything goes funny shaped. Know what mean? I think so.

I want to explore, something I have done and done well in the last two years of removing, mostly by not doing and often by ignoring something I was expected to respond to.  Taking the crap out of your life is IMO wonderful, it’s often effortful and sometimes painful. It’s the stuff you know in you soul and like Alanis Morissette says ‘you oughta know‘, this is the acknowledge it and do something about it, which is often about subtraction and making your life easier.

Embodied Self-Awareness : Newcastle NLP & Hypnotherapy Practice Group : 4th November : Mr & Mrs Kobayashi

Workshop No Comments »

This coming November we are in for a real treat because two skilled, talented and knowledgeable people are co-presenting an exploration into Embodied Self Awareness. Having recently participated in a workshop by Mark Walsh, Holly and Tristan Kobayashi are sharing their learnings.

I am very excited and enthused to have Holly and Tristan teaching this embodied yoga. Here is Holly explaining what this Trance Cafe is all about.

Newcastle Hypnosis Practice Group

“In this workshop we will be gaining embodied self-awareness – understanding our attitudes, personality and lifestyles via kinaesthetic knowledge.

We will use the body to physically experience themes such as ‘letting go; being strong; applying effort’ to discover how you react to each and what this tells you about yourself.

It is based on Mark Walsh’s Emboddied Yoga, which he states is:
– “a mindfulness based, psychologically deep, rational Western approach

– an individually adapted, social, self-directed educational and creative approach

– an emphasis on insight into how you are leading your life and practical ways to change that through the body

– transferable skills for life (not a short holiday from life that actually supports unhealthy patterns by making them tolerable)

– integration of emotions, language, social interaction and technology (rather than pretending feelings, other people and the modern world, don’t exist)”

(Please wear comfortable clothes that you can move easily in. This is suitable for everyone, as all physical postures can be adapted.)

A Trance to Remember : Taking Charge of Your Outcomes

Hypnotherapy Practice Group Newcastle, NLP Practice Group Newcastle, Trancecafe, Workshop No Comments »

Beliefs have the power to shape reality, or much more accurately, our perceptions of reality. Let us take for an example someone who is worried or rather anxious. These worries or anxieties  could come from a variety of sources; these may be physical and psychological and/or environmental.

This from me begs  the question what were the conditions, specifically the initial conditions that were at least in part, responsible for all or at least in some part, that particular perception of reality.

Newcastle NLP Hypnotherapy Practice Group

The idea of sensitive dependence on initial conditions is from a branch of science and maths called Chaos theory. Chaos theory is somewhere in between large body physics such as planets movements and the infinitesimal quantum theory which deals with bodies and interactions that are so small as to be almost incomprehensible. It deals very much with interactions on our human perspectives.

Returning to the anxious worrier or even the passive dreamer there are a series of either fortunate or unfortunate events that would seem to have created a proclivity to think and in some senses act in a certain way that can in the case of the anxious worrier and fuel the fires of worry or in the case of the passive dreamer  add water to the flames of any deep realisation; based on and within what previously happened.

By being aware that initial conditions( which we will define) can and do  have a real influence on what can happen  wouldn’t it be useful, wise or even different to have a way of resetting those initial conditions that have the potential to set everything else in motion either for good or for bad.

This March Trance Cafe will explore a methodology to counteract negative beliefs or injunctions very indirectly and then proceed in our processed based way to set the initial conditions, to stack the deck in favour of more positive expectations in a way that is supportive of outcomes and can be easily done-with some effort-by individuals.

As Autumn, a season of wonderful change, comes to visit once more I want to explore one of the methods or meta-change models the Lankton’s ‘modelled’ from Erickson.

With a surprisingly simple six step format, this month we will practice both the structure and the content. Inside of this there will be language patterns and themes to fill the content details of each contextual step.

Newcastle NLP Practice Group

Knowing and having a variety of meta structures to use in any change work ( not limited to NLP or Hypnotherapy ) is greatly valuable in change work.

This month we will explore a specific meta-structure by practising a variety of language patterns within the meta-structure. The idea being we can all learn without knowing exactly what is being learned and reflecting this way after practice ensure the meta-pattern has been internalised with a future orientated direction.

Newcastle NLP and Hypnotherapy Practice Group September 2014

NLP Practice Group Newcastle, Trancecafe, Workshop No Comments »

This first week in September is the re-start of the NLP and Hypnotherapy practice group in Newcastle. After a really nice pause from in August the practice group is freshly rejuvenated ( that may mean me ) and ready to begin again.

This Septembers NLP and Hypnosis practice is going to be a little bit different to the past practice session. Different in one small detail and what is that detail you may be asking?

For something new just this September there is no predefined topic. Sure I have ideas about what to work with on the evening and while I have ideas, its going to be a what is becoming relevant on the evening. So we are doing free flow and refined practice of whatever techniques and processes arise on the evening.

Experiencing a Transcended Self – Newcastle NLP & Hypnotherapy Practice Group : September 4th

After a really warm and invigorating summer pause, the Newcastle NLP Practice group is back in September with an exploration of the true self. The intention for the September practice group participants, is to have a self transcending experience using the Big Mind process created by Genpo Roshi.

Using techniques familiar to NLP Therapists, Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapist – Voice Dialogue, we will through a systematic exploration of voices and perceptual positions identify many aspects of the self in a very gentle and invitational way. This can also be considered as Parts Work. After getting to know these aspects of our self , we move on to explore experiencing a transcended self. Powerful, liberating and connecting process.

Newcastle NLP Practice Group

Working with ‘dualistic’ inner voices and acknowledging the role by becoming each part, we gain a deeper appreciation of what each part’s actual and valued job is and what it must do. All steps and stages are done with ego consent. So the process being 100% invitational is also gentle and respectful for your ego to make the willing choices that move you through the process.

Genpo is a Zen Master who has studies psycho-therapeutic process. Roshi’s discovery / creation of this Big Mind process has been called by Ken Wilber as ““arguably the most important and original discovery in the last two centuries of Buddhism.”

The Hypnotherapy Practice groups’s topic of the evening is Genpo Roshi’s Big Mind – Dualistic Voices technique. You can find out more about Genpo Roshi and Big Mind here.

Improvisation In Therapy & Coaching : April 20th : Newcastle

Hypnotherapy Practice, Therapist Practice & Supervision, Workshop 2 Comments »

When we are working in the role of a change consultant, therapist, facilitator or coach we do
Have an outcome in mind that is to facilitate a real, honest and empowering environment
Of exploration for our clients. How can we tune into being this creative?

Way too many change consultants can’t get out of their own way, in terms of making a real
Step or going out of their own comfort zone to enable their clients to do the same. What
Can we do to get to grips with getting out of our own way and facilitate real change experience?

There is a real need and requirement to be able to create a context for generative change which is
Enabling and at the same time, truly an honest and very creative place. When we hold a perspective of
Being seriously creative, we can see a clear path to genuinely enabling changes …

Performing arts and drama facilitation expert, Ruth Hindmarsh will facilitate a fun and
Safe space to really be the change consultant you know are, with fun and real purpose.

Within a sequence of exercises, Ruth and myself will integrate play, fun and creativity into tools
And process’s you can easily merge into your professional practice and your life to make your
Sessions and interactions much more creative as well as bringing a smile and sense of something more
Deeply connecting into our work, play time and life as a whole.

Bill O'Hanlon Workshop – Newcastle September 11-12

Workshop No Comments »

We (IntegrityNLP) are very proud to be hosting a workshop with Bill O’Hanlon in Newcastle on September 11th and 12th. Bill O’Hanlon was one of the great hypnotherapist Milton Erikson’s students and is very well known therapist, trainer and author. He says of this workshop: The Geography Of Possibilities

Possibility Therapy uses the power of acknowledgement to meet people where they are stuck and the power of possibility to invite them into change. Not just a positive approach, this approach recognizes problems, the influence of the past, and cultural, political and gender influences while creating a respectful, hopeful environment for change. It also adds a spiritual dimension to therapy.

Through clear handouts and lectures, videotapes and practice exercises, participants will have the opportunity to not only learn this approach to therapy but also to apply it to their own lives and selves.

You can hear Bill speak about Eriksonian and Solution Oriented Hypnotherapy on a podcast interview he did on ShrinkRapRadio with Dr David Van Nuys.

You can also hear him on the Theatre of the Mind podcast about ‘getting on track with your life’.

The online registration for this event starts on Wednesday 21st April at 8:00am.

The first 10 registrants can book for the Very Early Bird Fee of just £100.
