Newcastle NLP and Hypnotherapy Practice Group November 2023

Hypnotherapy Practice Group Newcastle No Comments »

This Newcastle NLP and Hypnotherapy Practice Group November 2023 is going to be the final practice day of this year so I hope you can come along and have some fun in learning and application.

The intention is to practice some Hypnotherapy and NLP applications in a variety of ways and then explore the kinds of differences that do make a difference in context.

Newcastle NLP and Hypnotherapy Practice Group November 2023

When Christopher Hyatt said practice leads to less error he was really onto something. As well as emphasising the value of practice he is also bringing attention to discovering small differences.

Those small differences or negative feedback help refine your skills within a context. Negative feedback is the kind of information that keeps a system within the kind of bounds that support correct functioning.

Just like your body’s way of maintaining a relative homeostasis. If you get too hot ( negative feedback ) you sweat and if you get too cold ( negative feedback ) you shiver.

Feedback comes in a variety of flavours and how feedback is served really can affect the taste. Feedback can be what you can observe, what your practice partners share and how you feel.

Practice and feedback is essential to both expand and refine your skills in any science and art form so there will be a combination of structured exercises and the more free flowing applications that stem from a menu of possibilities.

Topics for exploration at the Newcastle NLP and Hypnotherapy Practice Group November 2023 can be chosen on the day to suit you as well as plenty of exercises to play and practice with.

The world you live in is both uncertain and unpredictable. Change with Stories and Analogies : February 5th : Newcastle Hypnotherapy and NLP Practice Group

Hypnotherapy Practice Group Newcastle, NLP Practice Group Newcastle No Comments »

Stories, Fables and Analogies are part of the rich and diverse texture of all cultures, they form a huge part of our trivial and deep communications in day to day life; they also are one of the most pervasive patters that can reinforce problems and can even more nurture a systemic change, a perceptual shift, a quantum leap in an individuals positive reality.

Excellent communicators, change professionals and coaches can share really good and very relevant stories with their clients and you already have a life times experience of immensely valuable stories you can share. There are the ones you have really listened to which shape reality, anticipations; deal with and explore the inevitable life ‘events’ we will all experience at one time or another and those stories are there inside you.

Newcastle NLP Practice Group

You carry your stories with you like books, hundreds, thousands or more and they are available because of the associations you make to your current experience and aswell you know they are there in different formats when you explore the inherent and practiced stories you can use in the context of therapeutic change.

How such stories can amplify both states and relevant experiences as catalysts for change; this is part of the indirect ( bypassing the judging functions of mind ) method massively exemplified in Ericksonian hypnotherapy and also ranging towards the very direct telling and prescribing as in bardic, shamanistic and I dare say it commercial preaching. This is influencing language utilisation of change work, politics and religion.

This February we are exploring the relevant application of stories and analogies in the context of change work and coaching. Where shared stories match and offer new ways to thinking and doing, open old and forgotten learnings to displace and shift the meanings of stuck and problematic ways of being.

As a child you probably loved and looked forward to stories. Old ones and new ones where in some way you identified with the characters and the adventures they are having so in some very real way, stories can remind us that there are things we know but don’t know we know that can be transformative. Come and re-discover some of those things you know but aren’t yet remembering that are valuable treasures waiting to be unearthed again in the present.

Bereavement – When the Light Goes Out : December 4th : Newcastle Hypnotherapy and NLP Practice Group

Hypnotherapy Practice Group Newcastle, NLP Practice Group Newcastle, Trancecafe No Comments »

We all know death is the unavoidable aspect of life. Some people after a period of expected and natural mourning move on with their life while others fall into the depths of depression and melancholia and never quite recover.

This practice group exploration is not a substitute for professional 1:1 help if you experiencing bereavement; this is an exploration of some of the ways people can and do as a flower in the spring return to a full, loving and meaningful life.

Office of National Statistics figures show us in 2018 there was a far higher, peek number of deaths in January (64,154) through to April and October through November.

Your bereavement is unique to you and only you yet at the same time millions or billions of people through history have experienced a similar loss so this is pointing to the fact that there is more than hope to move back into the swing of your life.

The Newcastle NLP Practice Group will be exploring ideas from Psychotherapy, in particular Sigmund Freuds ideas regarding melancholia and unresolved interpersonal issues. Moving into Gestalt parts work for those conversations that didn’t happen during life and some themes from Zen and Stoicism as well as NLP submodality interventions to rearrange the inner order of representations and as such the meaning we are unconsciously making. And yes there will of course be hypnosis as a form of resolution for bereavement.

All proceeds from this Decembers Newcastle NLP Practice group will be donated to Coping With Cancer North East.

Better Meanings in Life : November 6th : Newcastle Hypnotherapy and NLP Practice Group

Hypnotherapy Practice Group Newcastle, Language Patterns, NLP Practice Group Newcastle No Comments »

You know that Life has no inherent meanings except the ones both yourself and society create. Making meanings is no one way street; Life Meanings are co-created both consciously and perhaps not so surprisingly unconsciously; for instance by way of your environment, your social net-works and of course you.

This November at the Newcastle NLP and Hypnotherapy practice group we are exploring the knotty subject of both how you make meaning of your life and how your meanings can and are shaped via the culture and society you are a part of. Watch the YouTube clip below for a great overview of the evenings practice and exploration.

With demonstrations and plenty of self exploration we will be examining how exterior influences can both shape and reinforce the meanings you have been making of the situations, circumstances and events in your life. Coming to explore from different perspectives how connotations, the non-literal and potentially implied aspects of your interactions ranging from conversations to seemingly insignificant micro events can, do and are supporting your opinions and potentially creating new perspectives that can transform your perceptions of reality, that is Making Better Meanings in Your Life.

Solution Focused Solutions

In October I attended a one day with shop with Ben Furman, one of the giants, who shares his work. I want to share with you three kinds of SF practice that can make the hope and likely hood of change much more realistic.

Hypnotherapy for Habits

In his seminal book, Dave Elman Hypnotherapy, Dave explicates what he regards as major discoveries in changing habits. The pivital points here being the difference twixt a known problems origin ( root cause – yuk ) and an unknown cause. The unknown cause resolution, in this mode of change, requires some regression or ‘hypno analysis’ to ascertain why this happened and following on from work in the hypnotic state, a very important conscious discussion apropos to effect the real possibility of long term generative change.

Hypnotic Language Patterns

Recognising as well as utilising a certain class of hypnotic language patterns, presuppositions, in this case also as to how to create and nurture a kind of perceptual reality supporting a present and future orientated anticipation of hopefulness in addition to the remembering and revising of realising new and additional skills and general wellness.

Orgiastic Enthusiasm Deconditioning Unhappy Dogma : Newcastle Hypnotherapy and NLP Practice Group : September 18th

Hypnotherapy Practice Group Newcastle, NLP Practice Group Newcastle No Comments »

Orgiastic Enthusiasm is one way to describe a way of being happier and more content more of the time as in living more spontaneously. Your conditioning, your unconscious responses and your environment are all contributing aspects to your expectations of how life is panning out for you. Have you ever really wondered how much your own ‘personal myth’ contributes to your life experiences?

At a crucial point in his life, Carl Jung asked himself a question. “What myth am I living?”

Orgiastic enthusiasm - Newcastle Hypnotherapy Practice Group

Right now there is an epidemic of seriously poor mental health. One in four people in the UK and USA have a current diagnosable mental health problem. There are astonishingly high proportion of people in the UK and USA taking anti-depressants. Why is the first port of call prescription drugs for what can be called normal moods? Could this be a dying off of the old myths and a slow awakening to the flickering possibility of a much needed new myth? Think American Gods by Neil Gaiman.

I hope to put your mind at ease and define the introductory words in their original context. Orgy in essence means Sacrament and Enthuse means to have divinity inside you, to be divinity. These are important ideas in one, a relationship to your own myth or, two, you are your own living myth. This is one of the profound differences between monotheistic and polytheistic religions.

Joseph Campbell has defined four functions of myth which are required for the myth to be functioning ‘correctly’ at the level of the individual, culturally, cosmologically and mystically. To be sure these are massively inherited yet can be updated or sublimated inside you so as to offer the potentiality to go beyond the pairs of opposites of dualistic experience and become, or at least connect with your true birth right and all the response-ability or not that comes.

All that is offered here are stories, ideas and some exercises that could be a seed source of personal transformation and shatter the Promethean chains of inherited, conditioned rights and wrongs. The same transformations can and are described in many different ways such as the process of individuation ( Jung), evolving self ( Kegan ), enlightenment ( buddhism ), moksha ( hinduism) and satori ( zen ). Hope to see you here on 18th at 7pm.

Changing a Troublesome Inner Voice and Unhelpful Beliefs

Hypnotherapy Practice Group Newcastle No Comments »

A lot of people talk about what to do with your ‘inner voice’. It’s a fact that we tend to talk to ourselves in our own heads.

You see, with NLP, we’re often asked what are the most important things we can practice on ourselves in order to be able to change the way we feel on a regular basis. We are asked, ‘how can I start to manage and change my beliefs. How can I do good effective work in the way in which I think.

Newcastle Hypnotherapy for Troublesome Inner Voice
A great way to do this is to change the way you talk with yourself, to help change the way you feel about yourself and others.

Because, by changing your inner voice effectively, you’re also adjusting limiting beliefs about yourself that had been programmed before.

The thing is too, when we learn to communicate better with ourselves, we can become more present and learn to also communicate more authentically and honestly with others too.

There will be five top tips for you on how to combat your negative internal dialogue to help you change the way you feel. And also put this intro practice because, with enough work, this can really help with limiting beliefs about yourself and others too, therefore also supporting improvements in how you perceive your world and others.

So if you are brave enough to admit that you do actually talk to yourself… like all of the time and in fact it can be quite grim too, then join us for the best top tips and change work to help you move forward for you and your clients.
